For more than 40 years, Steve has been continuously involved in trial work; 25 years as litigation counsel and 17 years as a Kansas state trial judge assigned to civil, domestic, criminal, and probate cases. Steve understands litigating cases from the perspectives of the attorneys for claimants and defendants, of clients, and of judges. He is uniquely positioned to mediate cases in a manner considering the positions of attorneys and their clients, yet reducing the influence of emotional attachment which often is an impediment to pretrial resolution.

Steve’s focus is to introduce mediating parties to the hard realities of trials and to reach fair resolution in sometimes novel ways.
